Nicole’s Favorite Things…

A few years ago, I heard of this “Favorite Things” party. I looked into it, and thought I might just try it. It worked so well, I’ve repeated the party a few times.

The party went like this: Each person brings 3 of the same thing; unwrapped. Something that was their ‘favorite thing’ that year. I set a price limit of $5 per “thing”, so everyone only spent $15.

Once we had all the goodies on the table, each person wrote their name once, on three separate pieces of paper then put them in a bowl. I drew names one at a time, when someone’s name was called, they picked one of the gifts on the table. Which meant each person brought three things and went home with 3 new “favorite things.”

Oh, of course there was food and fun and laughter…but you get the idea.

Well, it’s that time of year again for Nicole’s Favorite Things party. Alas…in these, the days of Coronavirus, I’ll be skipping said party this year. Well, physically. You see, I had an idea. I asked the usual suspects, plus a few more, this question:

What were two or three (or four or five) of your favorite things this past year? What has gotten you through? Quotes, books, bubble bath brand, movies, authors, foods, kitchen gadgets, recipes…when you look back on the mess of this past year, what were your favorite things that kept you duct taped together? What did you pull out of your hat on more than one occasion to comfort yourself and your friends and family?

I have compiled the answers and put them into twelve categories (you get what I’m doing here, right?) and I thought it would be fun to share the results with everyone. You might find a few gems for yourself!

For the next 12 days, I’ll be posting some Favorite Things that got us through this rough year.
